Solution Focused Hypnotherapy combines psychotherapy and hypnosis to help you feel more relaxed, more confident and less anxious.
Psychotherapy helps you address underlying issues. I don’t dwell on your problems or painful past experiences. I focus on helping you to understand how your brain works and how to use it to change negative thought patterns.
Hypnotherapy helps you access your subconscious mind so that you become more receptive to positive suggestions. Helping you feel calmer and more relaxed.
Solution Focused Hypnotherapy enables you to step back from the mental clutter and to focus on the future you want – the Solution. Hypnotherapy allows your subconscious to come to the fore, replacing the negative thought processes that dominate your stressed, conscious brain. Your brain becomes more receptive to positive ideas. Experiencing a state of deep relaxation, you start to feel calmer and more in control.
Using Solution Focused Hypnotherapy I will help you discover new ways to approach the problems and stresses that you face.
Over a course of several treatments you learn how to manage and control your thoughts so that you can get back the life you had lost. More energy, positivity and fun!

Seeing the results for my clients…
“I see the amazing impact of Solution Focused Hypnotherapy in my work every day. Clients who give up smoking, clients who are able to drive again, having lost their confidence, clients who felt they couldn’t cope with their lives, but now they can. The list goes on.”
Sarah Stanley, The Carlton Clinic
The NCH National Council of Hypnotherapy describes Hypnosis as “a natural state of mind and is an important part of everyday life. Whenever our mind wanders, daydreams or is focused on something, such as reading a book, driving a familiar route, watching a film we are in a state of hypnosis. Brain scans on people who are in hypnosis state show that brain wave activity moves from a Beta state to an Alpha state, and sometimes a Theta state. This is not dissimilar to the pattern of brain activity during meditation.”
What will happen in a session?
The initial consultation gives us a chance to meet and determine the best way forward for you I explain how the subconscious works, how hypnotherapy can help you get to where you want to be, and how many sessions it is likely to take. This initial consultation will also include a free hypnotherapy MP3 file or CD. Always allow at least one hour for this session.
All subsequent sessions begin with Solution Focused techniques followed by Hypnotherapy. Again always allow an hour for these sessions.
What will I need to do?
Ultimately it is down to the client to want to make the changes and be willing to engage in the therapeutic process. Clients who get the very most from their sessions truly commit themselves to the process and focus on making the changes that they identify, such as listening to the relaxation MP3/CD. This will be fully explained at the initial consultation.
The number of sessions required varies but, anxiety typically takes 6-12 sessions phobias normally take 2-4 sessions, and quitting smoking normally requires only one session. Sports motivation & performance packages are also available.
Can hypnosis be used on children?
Yes. Children are natural hypnotic subjects. Sarah is accredited to work with children and young people Solution Focused Hypnotherapy is an effective model to allow children and teenagers to overcome challenges, release negative behaviours and set real and achievable goals. Most children age 8 and up can benefit. Children generally have good imaginations and they are open to positive suggestion.
