We are excited to announce that our lovely and bendy Nikki Fenton is running Pilates classes every Monday at the Hookwood Memorial Hall, Hookwood at 6.30 pm and on a Wednesday at the Albert Rooms, Horley at 7 pm.

What is Pilates & how can it help you?

Pilates is a series of controlled exercises that engage the mind and condition the whole body, and in today’s world, when so many people find themselves sitting in front of a computer working for 8 hours a day, it is a great way to undo some of those poor postural habits.

Pilates uses your own body weight and focuses on body alignment/posture to achieve a longer, leaner body shape with significant improvement in strength and stability. The movements and exercises focus on targeting the body’s core muscles: the abdominals, hips, buttocks, and lower back. The exercises can increase balance and proprioception, and improve core strength. They also help with general body awareness and mobility.

Osteopaths and other professionals will often recommend Pilates exercises to help with the rehabilitation of existing injuries and to proactively avoid any future injuries. These movements are particularly beneficial for individuals who have a history of spinal or joint injuries.

The attendees from last Monday certainly felt the benefits, as seen in the pictures.
